WE ARE
Veteran Housing
Our vision is to provide 10 units to Veterans as short-term supportive housing. All units will be wheelchair accessible. Our veterans will have the opportunity to take part in on-site and off-site programming supported through Veterans Affairs. We are two blocks from the core of Preston on a quiet residential street.
Community Centre
Our vision is to provide Ward 3 of Cambridge, its first ever community centre where people can gather to create a sense of belonging and hope. By focusing on the strengths within our catchment area, we aim to discover the skills of residents as part of the activities of the centre and draw on the power of the local social networks, our current resources and the stories of shared lives. We will create a space for all to feel welcomed and accepted with the encouragement to live to their full potential.

HISTORY
The Dream
It was over 20 years ago that the current Pastor of the Cambridge Preston Church of the Nazarene, Pastor Jennifer Turner, as a young mother of 4, was looking for help for her children. She discovered that because she did not live in the catchment area of the local community centre, she would be put on a waiting list. With this experience in mind, Pastor Jenn began to dream about a community centre in Preston.
In 2017 Pastor Mark Kitzman felt it was time to move forward on the dream and saw the vision of a building on the property. In 2018 the dream developed to include ministry to veterans in crisis. The name Freedom Centre came from the verse from Galatians 5:1 “It was for freedom that Christ has set us free.”
